Govert Flinck - Youth Lying Down Prostrate,… cat wallpaper Full HD

This is Govert Flinck - Youth Lying Down Prostrate,…, a mysterious cat wallpaper built around slate and cream tones. The frame is composed for 4:3, which is why it reads well on desktop without pushing the subject out of shot.

Everything you can see is part of the original file: 1920 × 1474 pixels in JPG (714 KB). Nothing is upscaled, and the colours were sampled straight from the picture, so what you download is what you saw in the grid.

The palette leans towards slate and cream, and that makes it easy to build an interface around it. A lock screen works particularly well here, because the tones never fight with whatever you put in front of them.

How to use it

To use it, download the file, open it on your device and choose the option to set it as the background. If your system crops the edges, use the 4:3 version from the collection or turn the zoom off so the full frame stays visible.

How to make the most of it

• On a phone, place the subject in the upper half so your clock and notification stack do not cover the focal point.
• For a dual-monitor setup, use this one on the screen you read from and a flatter image on the screen you only glance at.
• If you use it on a laptop, dim the desktop icons slightly; a busy wallpaper competes with small text more than with large text.

What you get

You get a 1920 × 1474 JPG file (4:3, 714 KB). It is large enough for a desktop screen and for printing up to A4 (210 × 297 mm), and it is compressed for the web so that it still loads quickly on a mobile connection.
